Integral motorized remote racking (MR2) for metal-clad switchgear

Eaton's Integral motorized remote racking (MR2) provides a means of remotely racking any VCP-W drawout circuit breakers and auxiliary drawers used in metal-clad switchgear.  The integral racking system can also be utilized to open and close the circuit breaker remotely, using local or remote controls. The addition of an MR2 system helps mitigate electrical arc flash exposure by allowing the operator to work from outside the arc flash boundary.
  • Permanently installed racking motors eliminate the need to lift, manipulate, or align heavy, bulky equipment as required by other remote racking and control equipment
  • Powered by internal CPT or customer supplied external 120 Vac power source
  • Single pendant will operate the MR2 for the auxiliary and breaker compartments
  • Optional front mounted 120 Vac receptacle for temporary motor and pendant control
  • All circuit breaker and auxiliary compartment safety interlocks remain intact per IEEE C37.20.20
  • Logic is built into the remote racking device to sense interference issues
  • Controls can be integrated into metal-clad switchgear secondary control circuits, and/or SCADA systems using Modbus interface or discrete wiring

Arc flash safety for metal-clad switchgear

See the operation of motorized remote racking with use of a pendant and HMI control to move between Disconnect, Test or Connect positions for the circuit breaker, Disconnect and Connect positions for the auxiliary drawer or open and close the breaker.

    Work safer

    The arc flash boundary is an approach limit from an arc source at which incident energy equals 1.2 cal/cm2. The handheld MR2 pendant allows work to be performed from outside the arc flash boundary for enhanced arc flash safety.

    Intelligent operation

    In addition to the handheld pendant operation, Eaton’s motorized remote racking function for metal-clad equipment can be integrated into switchgear secondary control circuits, (SCADA) systems, Modbus® interface or discrete wiring to utilize intelligent I/O to connect or disconnect the individual compartments.
