ReliaSense power measurement sensors

Eaton’s ReliaSense power measurement sensors is a portfolio containing current and voltage sensors designed to enhance equipment performance, increase operational efficiency and improve safety. The flexibility provided by sensors over auxiliary transformers allows design engineers to easily adapt during the design phase, resulting in efficiency in design and accuracy in application. In addition, retrofitting existing equipment with ReliaSense is a simple way to update existing systems and remove potential failure modes from aged equipment.

  • Voltage and current sensors available to replace traditional current and voltage transformers.
  • Voltage sensors effectively mitigate the risk of voltage (potential) transformer failures caused by ferroresonance, insulation failures, switching transients. 
  • Current sensors remove the risk of shock hazard due to an open circuit on current transformers. 
  • ReliaSense sensors can provide high accuracy over a wider frequency range, making them suitable for power quality monitoring and transient detection.  
  • Unlike current transformers and voltage transformers, these sensors can withstand system events without saturating or blowing fuses. 
  • Sensors are a lightweight and small footprint solution that are easily retrofittable and have simple connections to the protective relaying/metering devices.  
  • Current sensors do not require ratio definition, making it ideal for short-cycled projects where pre-defining ratio definition can be challenging.
