Low-voltage transformers

Breaker integrated transformer (BIT)

Eaton’s breaker integrated transformer (BIT) integrates a traditionally separate molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) and a low-voltage dry-type distribution transformer into a single factory-assembled, fully tested unit. BITs help reduce arc-flash hazards, overall footprint and cost of your electrical distribution system. BITs are available with most ventilated transformers’ options, in single and three-phase, and with configurations in combinations of primary or secondary, or both.

Core features

  • Replace the need for separate power distribution components with a fully enclosed molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) integrated into Eaton’s proven low-voltage dry-type distribution transformer technology
  • Includes transformers with DOE 2016 and efficiency requirements, and transformers with other efficiency requirements
  • Take advantage of space savings with an integrated design that can save up to 30 percent compared to traditional, separately installed solutions
  • Easily configure to specific application needs with a wide range of primary, secondary, primary and secondary, or secondary and secondary breaker choices
  • Reduce hazard of arc flash
  • Transformers include a versatile bonding/grounding bar affixed to the bottom panel as standard, to provide compliance with NEC 450.10(A)

Reduce cost, footprint and arc flash hazards

The combination of low-voltage transformers and close-coupled downstream panelboards can be effectively addressed with a breaker integrated transformer (BIT). BITs significantly reduce incident energy levels at the panel, are factory-assembled, and fully tested to help minimize the footprint and overall cost of your electrical distribution system.

Reduce arc flash hazards on stepdown transformer applications

The secondary of a stepdown transformer is an area with high incident energy levels. And as transformer size increases, so does the incident energy level. Learn more about the benefits of integrating the secondary breaker from a panelboard into a stepdown transformer’s enclosure.
