E70 Series photoelectric sensor

The E70 Series offers a wide choice of sensor optical modes and accessories to solve virtually any problem. They are available in retroreflective, polarized retroreflective, diffuse reflective, and PerfectProx background rejection models. Sensors are available with either a built-in 2 meter cable or a body-mounted M12 quick disconnect connector.

Core features

  • High optical power enhances reliability and performance
  • Advanced indication reduces downtime due to contamination in the sensing environment
  • Inherent protective measures safeguard sensors against transients, high voltage conditions, short circuits and other power anomalies prevalent in control panel environments
  • Alignment algorithm make sensors easier to position for maximum performance and long-term, trouble-free operation
  • Marginal gain indication provides predictive warning well in advance of sensor failure
  • Ideal for an extensive range of applications, including material handling, packaging, pharmaceutical, baggage handling and bottling
  • Short manufacturing cycle ensures sensors can be quickly and efficiently manufactured to meet your requirements

Our optics are tested and proven.

Our roots are strong as a photoelectric sensor company, one with nearly half a century of experience sending sensors into the most difficult machine and equipment environments in nearly every industry. The optics of the E70 are built on that incredible legacy and are powerful enough to maintain machine operation in even the most adverse environmental conditions. Steam and fog, powders from food and chemical processes, and intense dust – we've seen through these things before and, despite its compact size the E70 series is just as powerful. Plain and simple our sensors will make your machine more robust.

A unique approach to indication.

We know how important sensor indication can be, when it comes to commissioning a new machine or troubleshooting an issue found in the field with deployed equipment. Despite its compact size, E70 series sensors reveal a unique design with ultra bright indicator LEDs to come at the challenge of indication in a new and innovative way. Eaton’s approach to indication illuminates an entire section of the sensor housing, unlike other sensors where LEDs are point sources that may be visible only from certain angles.

Complete protection for robustness and reliability.

Designed with robust mechanical and electrical protections, the E70 series is ready for life on a machine. Fully sealed with multi-layer protection against moisture ingress, this is a sensor that will survive even in the most unfavorable environmental conditions of temperature, humidity, dirt, dust and grit. Electrically protected against input voltage transients and output wiring faults, these sensors can handle often uncertain conditions during installation and commissioning and will survive a lifetime of service once the machine is installed and operating.

Easy to design in, set up, align, and commission.

Multiple mounting options, including the 18mm nosepiece of the E70 series, make the sensors easy to fit into tight spaces on your equipment. Eaton offers 2D and 3D drawing and model files to simplify integration. Visible red sensing beams on all models are another simple but effective way to make your life as a controls designer or system installer easier. The E70 series marginal gain indication, present in certain models, provides an in-application installation and commissioning aid when aligning to a retroreflective target. Unparalleled indicator LED viewability means you can walk away knowing life operating and maintaining the machine will be easy.

Valuable diagnostics through marginal gain indication.

The E70 series incorporates marginal gain indication to provide in-application diagnostics for customers using retroreflective models. The indication is progressive, giving advance warning of a problem that could shut down a machine before the system stops working. This allows maintenance to be completed in a planned manner, during a time in which the machine is scheduled to be inactive, rather than suddenly shutting down the machine when it is most needed for production.
