PowerXL DG1 - How to run a motor in Local and Remote mode

In this video you will learn how to run a motor in Local and Remote mode with the Eaton Power XL DG1.

The Eaton Power XL DG1 variable frequency drive has two modes of operation: Local and Remote.

Both modes determine 2 things:

One: Where the PowerXL DG1 will receive a run/start command.

Two: The speed reference source.

HERE IS HOW YOU SELECT LOCAL AND REMOTE MODE

Method 1:  Local Remote keypad button.

  • Press the LOCAL/REM button on the keypad.  This will prompt a question on the display screen either select Local? or select Remote?
  • Press the OK key to confirm the choice.
  • If Remote is selected, the yellow REMOTE, LED indicator light will be iluminated. Also, the control place status Indicator on the display screen, will display I/O, if the default settings are unchanged.
  • If Local is selected, the yellow REMOTE, LED indicator light will be iluminated. Also, the control place status Indicator on the display screen will display KEY, if default settings are unchanged.
  • The default run/start command in Local mode is the green button on the keypad.
  • The default speed reference for Local mode is R12 Keypad Reference. Keypad reference can be changed with the up and down keypad arrows.
  • The default run/start command in Remote mode is I/O terminal start 1-DI1 for forward, clockwise output to motor or DI2 for reverse, counter-clockwise output to motor.
  • The default speed reference in Remote is analog input 2 (AI2)—default for AI2 is 4-20mA input.
